The GWA Wingfoil World Cup 2023 held its final wave event in Dakhla, Morocco. In front of the fantastic backdrop of the Sahara Desert, twenty-five men and five women from 9 nations around the world competed for the inaugural Wingfoil Wave World Championship title. The US’s Moona Whyte and Cape Verde’s Wesley Brito won the first-ever world titles in the Wave discipline. Nia Suardiaz from Spain clinched her second world title in less than a week when she won the FreeFly-Slalom discipline at the GWA Wingfoil World Cup Denmark in Hvide Sande which gave her the coveted crown. The remarkable 16-year-old athlete was so dominant she has won four of the five FreeFly-Slalom stops on this year’s GWA Wingfoil World Tour. Barely four days ago she won the Surf-Freestyle contest in Hvide Sande, which gave her the world title even with two world tour stops remaining.

The mens final was a showdown between two of the youngest riders on tour. Our current World Champion Malo Guenole vs Chris Mac Donald. On day four of the GWA Wingfoil World Cup in New Zealand, the wind finally kicked in, allowing us to advance halfway through Men’s Round One with approximately 14 knots of wind. Lilian Juppet started the day by scoring a solid 6.77 Front Flip, allowing him to advance to the next round. The GWA Wingfoil World Cup is delighted to be back in Tarifa (ESP) for the penultimate wingfoil event of the 2022 season, where 48 men and 15 women have registered to participate in this pure Surf-Freestyle event. The opening day of the competition period at Bibo Beach delivered the opening throwdowns of the penultimate Surf-Freestyle showdown of the season on Wednesday 12th October!

The Ensis ENGADINWING by Dakine kicked off on Tuesday 14th with a premiere in St. Moritz and Silvaplana (SUI) and took until yesterday, Sunday evening, June 19th, 2022. World champions and European champions from three continents showed wing foiling at the highest level. More than 70 athletes from 14 nations travelled to the Engadine and enjoyed the unique lake landscape in the Engadine as a competition stage.

What an amazing final day of action we saw at the Tarifa Wing Pro 2021, where 15 year old Riccardo Zorzi stormed up the ladder to win the Surf-Freestyle discipline. On the racing side, Mathis Ghio and Olivia Piana showed amazing focus and speed to win.

Day Three of the Tarifa Wing Pro was all about the tow-in action, as we ran an expression session in the waves whilst the athletes and crew waited for the wind to arrive. A total of 18 athletes signed up to participate in the tow-in competition, and we saw some amazing surfing from riders such as young gun Malo Guenole, Titouan Galea from New Caledonia, Kane de Wilde from USA and Italian Riccardo Zorzi. Day Two of the GWA Tarifa Wing Pro saw the near-completion of Men’s Round 3 for the Surf-Freestyle discipline. Several attempts were made to start to the Race discipline today, but due to several changes in the race-course, the final call was made to switch to the Surf-Freestyle discipline to try and advance further up the competition ladder. Another world premiere at the Vanora ENGADINWIND by Dakine 2020 was the Wing Foil exhibition event by the newly founded GWA Global Wingsports Association.
