VQS SURF SERIES 2013/14 | MULLETFISH | Hossegor | France | 19&20 October
The Mullet Fish surf series in Hossegor has been a regional classic for many years now!
This year, nearly 100 surfers from France and a few from Spain tried to get their VQS Euro Champs' qualification in solid surf at the beach of CULS NUS, front of the Volcom House.
The tide was low in the morning, and a fun inside sandbar was lining up, offering perfect waves for the Squids and Groms’ divisions who battled hard.
When the tide started to come in, so did the swell…
Kyllian Guerin finally took the cake in the Squids division with some massive take offs in big waves for these little buddies, just front of the young Noa Dupouy and locals, Paco Duffaud and Tao Tisnet.
If there is a little kid who loves big and hollow waves, it would be Justin Becret, who, even if he’s just 11 years old, won the Groms division (13years and less), who was leaving for his first Mentawaii Trip soon after! He was following by another usual finalist, Teva Bouchga!
As expected, the Spanish surfer, Ariane Ochoa won easily the Girl’s category front of the local, Camille Liets who charged hard in the final with a big smile, Karla Todor finished 3rd and the very young (9 years old!) lady, Hina Conradi came in 4th.
In the Junior’s division, despite his young age, Anglet local Paul Monborne showed some impressive power surfing skills and won the division (and the 250€ prize money!) just in front of another Spanish surfer, Lander Davila. Both are now qualified for the VQS Euro Champs along with Enzo Poulat and Paul Bayle.
The contest finished with the Pro Am Division and the victor was a British surfer, “Prince” Harry Timson, who has spent the last 6 months in the Volcom House (and it shows in his surfing) and earned 500€ more in his pocket for his winter trip! François “Smiters” Guilhemsang took the second place slot in front of Emilien Lojou and Hossegor local Pol Barets.
Many Thanks to the Council of Hossegor, all the judges, Vince Timson for the pictures, Ludo for the movie, all the staff and people who helped.
