LAAX Highline World Championships 2022 – Best of Freestyle
This weekend, Laax in Switzerland will be the venue for the Highline Slackline World Championships 2022. At an altitude of 2252 meters on the Crap Sogn Gion, 31 athletes from all over the world will compete in the categories Speedline and Freestyle. While men and women performed their tricks separately in freestyle, they tried to run their fastest time in speedline. A total of three lines with a length of 65 meters and different tensions are available to the athletes for the freestyle, for the speedline contest there were two parallel 100-meter-long lines with the same tension each.
After intense battles in the final, the world's best freestyle highliners were determined. Davis Hermes (USA) won the men's category and thus the world championship title with his trick "The Holy Grail", a double forward turn around the highline. The women's competition was no less spectacular: Louise Lenoble (FRA) performed a "Front Almighty Flip", a standing turn around the highline in which she holds on to the highline with her feet. This earned her the victory and title of world champion in freestyle highlining.
