Engadin Skimarathon 2023 - Night Race Highlights
The fifth edition of the Engadin night run from Sils to Pontresina offered the best conditions for the 600 participants. As the fastest, Ilaria Gruber from Silvaplana (SUI) and Curdin Räz from Sils (SUI) decide the race in their favor.
The women's race was won by the young Silvaplaner Ilaria Gruber, who was able to distance Christa Ehrenzeller-Jäger from Valens in the last meters. The third woman, Annina Iseppi from St. Moritz, reached the finish in Pontresina, well behind. For Ilaria Gruber (17) it was the first Engadin night run: "Running a race in the dark was a great experience," she enthused after the race. "The trail was great and my success puts me in the right mood for the half marathon on Sunday."
Curdin Räz is also at the start on Sunday; he will run over 43.5 kilometers. "Top ten" is his goal, he says, "and preferably better than last year." In 2022 he finished eighth at the Engadin Skimarathon.
