The mens final was a showdown between two of the youngest riders on tour. Our current World Champion Malo Guenole vs Chris Mac Donald. Both went trick for trick, with Chris opening with a 7.43 point Back Flip. Malo responded with an outstanding 8.63 point Front Side 7. On day four of the GWA Wingfoil World Cup in New Zealand, the wind finally kicked in, allowing us to advance halfway through Men’s Round One with approximately 14 knots of wind. Lilian Juppet started the day by scoring a solid 6.77 Front Flip, allowing him to advance to the next round. Camille Bouyer landed a clean Back Flip, also scoring him 6.77 and solidifying his lead into Round 2. Despite the forecast looking positive, the wind did not show up until 4pm for day two of the GWA Wingfoil World Cup in New Zealand. The day was filled with alternative activities, including a Tow-in Surf Foil competition where the top riders participated.

The GWA Wingfoil World Cup had its second day of competition in Tarifa (ESP). Strong levante wind conditions allowed to complete rounds 1 and most of 2 for the men, alongside the women’s quarter finals. The GWA Wingfoil World Cup is delighted to be back in Tarifa (ESP) for the penultimate wingfoil event of the 2022 season, where 48 men and 15 women have registered to participate in this pure Surf-Freestyle event. The opening day of the competition period at Bibo Beach delivered the opening throwdowns of the penultimate Surf-Freestyle showdown of the season on Wednesday 12th October!

After a long final day of competition, the new world champions are crowned: In the youngest age groups, U15, Artun Senol (TUR) claims the 2022 title in the boys’ races, while Hanna Simon from Hungary not only wins the final in the girls’ U15, but also in the U17 races. French windsurfer Noé Garandeau is the new champion in the boys age group of under 17-year-olds. And finally, the victories in the U19s go to Charlie Dixon from Great Britain (boys) and Isreal’s Tamar Steinberg (girls).

On the fifth day of the Youth and Junior World Championships in Silvaplana, it was cloudy and cold. The plan was to start all the finals that could not be done so far, but the wind was not sufficient. Instead, a night Tow-In Freestyle show was started in the evening.

Results in the U17 boys, the French Noé Garandeau (FRA 38) remains on first place. Tom Nicolle (FRA 55), who dropped to third after a protest yesterday, had a very good performance winning today’s race and accomplished to climb up to second place overall. The Polish boy, Igor Lewinsky (POL 30), who yesterday was second after the protest, today took the third place overall after a tie break with the French Nicolle. The third day of the iQFOiL Youth & Junior World Championship was a total success, due to the wind blowing more than the day before, the race committee decided to launch Course Races. There was a total of 18 races that day!

What an amazing final day of action we saw at the Tarifa Wing Pro 2021, where 15 year old Riccardo Zorzi stormed up the ladder to win the Surf-Freestyle discipline. On the racing side, Mathis Ghio and Olivia Piana showed amazing focus and speed to win.

Day Three of the Tarifa Wing Pro was all about the tow-in action, as we ran an expression session in the waves whilst the athletes and crew waited for the wind to arrive. A total of 18 athletes signed up to participate in the tow-in competition, and we saw some amazing surfing from riders such as young gun Malo Guenole, Titouan Galea from New Caledonia, Kane de Wilde from USA and Italian Riccardo Zorzi. Day Two of the GWA Tarifa Wing Pro saw the near-completion of Men’s Round 3 for the Surf-Freestyle discipline. Several attempts were made to start to the Race discipline today, but due to several changes in the race-course, the final call was made to switch to the Surf-Freestyle discipline to try and advance further up the competition ladder.
