The mens final was a showdown between two of the youngest riders on tour. Our current World Champion Malo Guenole vs Chris Mac Donald. Both went trick for trick, with Chris opening with a 7.43 point Back Flip. Malo responded with an outstanding 8.63 point Front Side 7. In the Rookie category Italian Thomas Auer and Sarah Schonach (AUT) stood out most, in the Groms category Benjamin Lengger (AUT) took home the title. The first World Cup of the Qatar Airways GKA Kite World Tour season has taken place in Furwairit, Qatar over the last five days. The Tour’s freestyle riders did put on an exciting show of high-performance competition in this unique, natural set-up. A shallow water lagoon makes it perfect for freestyle competition. In the end, it was brazilian Bruna Kajiya and the italian Gianmaria Coccoluto who secured the victory in the first World Cup of the season, opening the fight for the title in 2023.

For the first time ever in the sport of slacklining, a World Championship in highlining takes place at the peak Crap Sogn Gion on the 15.-17. July 2022. The event is organized by swiss-slackline.ch and hosted by Laax, Switzerland. 30 Athletes; about 10 women and 20 males are expected to participate. The athletes compete gender-separated in the discipline Freestyle Highline and together in Speed Highline.
